What is the STURDY Act, and how does it affect you?

  • As of September 1st, 2023, all specified “Clothing Storage Units” must pass a series of tests (see video below) that eliminates or greatly reduces the possibility of the unit tipping over on a small child.

  • All specified units must also be properly labeled and include an anti-tip over kit that is designed to secure the unit to the wall.

  • All manufacturers, regardless of size or volume, must comply. This includes all imported units.

  • Before buying a new bedroom suite, you should always ask your sale associate if the units are STURDY compliant.

How does your Country Classic furniture comply?

Comes with a smooth and reliable Drawer Interlock system. The interlock is concealed in the rear and has no visible protruding clips or parts like many systems have.

Every unit is built with substantial 5/8” thick dovetailed drawer sides. This not only makes for a super strong drawer box but it also adds a counterbalance that helps to keep your unit where it should be – upright!

All units come standard with fitted backs and most units have durable ¾” thick bottoms. This keeps your unit rigid and ensures generations of enjoyment!
